Step-by-step audio instructions that will enable anyone to give a relaxing full body massage. Written and produced by Susan Lembo, Native American flute by Jim Beer.
"Susan Lembo has written and produced this full body massage session with the fine-tuning of a beautifully choreographed rhythmic dance." - NAPRA ReView "Excellent teaching tool for anyone who wants to learn the fine art of massage." - Nexus "This CD provides a wonderful tool for people who would like to explore massage with a partner, but find books to be inadequate instruction. I have a collection of books on how to do massage, and not one is as good at instruction as Susan Lembo's Guided Massage for Everyone. The choice of background music was great it was there, but not intrusive, and lovely to listen to while drifting in relaxation. In the end, I really enjoyed learning how to give a good massage. My partner enjoyed being the "guinea pig" and, although always terrible at giving a massage in the past, the one he gave me while listening to this tape was very good (an extra bonus for me!)." - Sage Woman "Perfect for the person who is not a professional massage therapist, but would like to explore the sensual joys of this ancient art in their home for relaxation. For the many people who have never had a massage, and are curious to try it, this is a great place to start. As you will discover if you try this, there is a middle ground between not knowing any techniques and the skills of a trained professional, which can be enjoyed by anyone who cares to try." - Oracle 2000 "A great CD for those who don't
want to study massage formally, but would like to learn about it.
Her instructions are clear and easy to understand." - Creations "Susan has put together a CD which is really an instructional piece for everyone to enjoy the instruments of their bodies in a healing, positive and good way. It is most unique in that it teaches you clearly about the essential elements of massage as the soothing sounds of the traditional Native American flute stylins' of Jim Beer transfix you through the journey to a healthier body and spirit." - Laurin Wollan, Music Monthly
Guided Massage for
Everyone contains simple, clear, step-by-step audio
instructions that will enable anyone to massage their partner, family and
friends. It is not meant to replace the extensive training that is
required to become a Certified Massage Therapist, but will help the
non-professional who wants to learn basic Swedish Massage techniques. It
is for people who are curious about Massage but have neither the time nor
the inclination to go to a Massage school.
Guided Massage for Everyone is perfect for the person who always wanted
to give a better Massage, or for people who would like to receive a
Massage but do not feel comfortable with anyone other than their partner.
It will help couples learn basic Massage skills that they can use
immediately. CD Format The 72 minute CD is divided into two sections: Section 1 - Overview and directions for using the CD,
information about the benefits of Massage, contraindications, instructions
for setting up your work area, ethics and boundaries, and more.
Section 2 - The 57-minute Guided Massage Sequence which guides you
through every step of a full body Massage. The gentle sounds of Native
American Flute by Jim Beer sing beneath the soothing voice of Valerie
Kooyker. Photographs in the liner notes show the correct position for your
hands during the Guided Massage Sequence. Massage has many physiological benefits. Massage improves circulation,
boosts immune function, reduces muscular tension and spasm, helps the body
rid itself of toxins, thereby reducing recovery time between workouts. In
addition, Massage helps release endorphins, the body's own pain relieving
agents. It also helps the body produce human growth hormone, and studies
have shown that premature babies who received Massage gained weight 50%
faster than babies who did not receive Massage. In addition to the
physiological benefits, it feels good and provides both giver and receiver
with an opportunity to slow down for a while. Massage creates bridges between people. If the giver feels genuine
concern for the receiver of the Massage, he or she will feel nurtured and
loved. It is a great way for couples and friends to experience meaningful
quality time together as they help each other to manage stress. On a spiritual level, massage provides deep relaxation, and if you work
in silence, the chance for giver and receiver to transcend their
environment and travel to a more peaceful realm, tapping into a wellspring
of deep renewal. Our Mission Spiritkeeper's mission is to make the benefits of Massage accessible to
everyone. It is meant to make the world a better place by helping people
connect through touch. This CD is not intended to replace medical
care or Massage Therapy by a certified practitioner.
Tips for Beginners Don't rush your movements, move slowly and evenly Move from your shoulders Keep your hands relaxed Ask the receiver for feedback. "Is this amount of
pressure OK?" or "How does this feel?" Other than feedback, try not
to talk much during the Massage. Be in the moment. Don't spend your time worrying about
how you're doing. Think about your intention to help the person who is
receiving the Massage. This will keep you centered and grounded. Keep a blanket nearby to make sure the receiver of the
Massage is warm enough. Be confident in the knowledge that each time you give a
Massage you will improve and it will be easier. Good luck! Commonly Asked Questions I've never given a Massage before. Will the
instructions be too advanced for me? The CD is geared to beginners and it tells you exactly what to do at
all times. We suggest you listen to the entire CD while looking at the
photographs before giving your first Massage. How will I know if I'm doing the Massage
correctly? There are photos in the liner notes to refer to, so you can see how to
position your hands. This program asks you to focus inward and slow down
so you can help your partner, friends or family. The emphasis is on your
intention to help. We at Spiritkeeper believe touch is an innate ability
and everyone has the potential to help others through massage. If you
relax your hands, move slowly and evenly, and develop a rhythm with your
movements you will be able to help someone you care about. What if I have questions or if I'm confused
while giving a Massage?
Don't worry if you feel a bit unsure of yourself at first. Any new
skill takes time to master. This CD focuses more on using your intuition
than on doing things a certain way. If you listen to the entire program
before giving a Massage, while looking at the photos, you'll have an idea
about what to do. Then give yourself a chance to practice and don't expect
to be an expert overnight. If you have specific questions, you can Email
me at susan@spiritkeeper.com
and I'll reply to your questions, and I'll post your questions in this
section so others can benefit too. What if my hands hurt or I feel tired while
giving the Massage?
If you position yourself comfortably and move correctly, with relaxed,
open hands, you won't feel uncomfortable during the massage. If you're
tired or your hands start to hurt, it's OK to stop at any time and
continue at a later date. Most people appreciate the effort on the part of
their loved ones to help them feel better, and just a few minutes of
Massage is better than no Massage at all.
